Incidence and Pathogenesis of Urethral Involvement Due to Lichen Sclerosus

چکیده
Recent findings Depending on the length and severity of urethral involvement, surgical management of lichen sclerosus urethral strictures can range from a simple meatotomy to a single or complex staged long repair using oral mucosa. Skin grafts or flaps are not recommended because skin could be involved by the disease. Perineal urethrostomy may represent the salvage solution in severe panurethral strictures.

Lichen sclerosus of the male genitalia and urethral stricture diseases.
INTRODUCTION The true incidence of urethral involvement in patients with genital lichen sclerosus (LS) is unknown. We review the epidemiology and discuss the pathogenesis of LS and urethral stricture diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS During the period 1991-2002, of 925 patients who underwent urethroplasty for anterior urethral stricture, 130 patients (14%) received the diagnosis of LS. In all p...

PURPOSE Using pathological examination we evaluated the involvement of lichen sclerosus in urethral strictures in men. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed an observational, descriptive, retrospective study of patients treated for genital lichen sclerosus who had at least 1 biopsy positive for lichen sclerosus. Study exclusion criteria were malignant penile lesions, incomplete data on personal ...
متن کاملIncidence of Urethral Stricture in Patients with Adult Acquired Buried Penis
Introduction. Concealed-buried penis is an acquired condition associated with obesity, challenging to both manage and repair. Urethral stricture is a more common disorder with multiple etiologies. Lichen sclerosus is a significant known cause of urethral stricture, implicated in up to 30%. We hypothesize that patients with buried penis have a higher rate of urethral stricture and lichen scleros...

PURPOSE When not recognized and treated aggressively, lichen sclerosus may progress and cause debilitating symptoms. It also may result in significant morbidity in patients undergoing treatment for urethral strictures because unrecognized, it may result in rapid and severe recurrence after surgical treatment. We present our experience treating patients with lichen sclerosus in an equal access h...
